Our Doctors
S. Emi Knafo
DVM, DACZM
Dr. Knafo graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University with a degree in biological sciences. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University and then completed an internship in large animal surgery and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed an internship and residency in zoological medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia and Cornell University, respectively. She has experience as a faculty member in zoological companion animal medicine at Tufts university, in ZCA private practice, and was most recently a faculty member in the zoological medicine service at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine where she established a research colony of axolotls. During this time, Dr. Knafo has continued to practice small animal medicine in general practice, urgent care, and emergency settings through relief work. Additionally, Dr. Knafo is currently in law school to pursue a Juris Doctor degree hoping to leverage expertise in veterinary medicine as an animal and veterinary advocate. Dr. Knafo loves teaching and is regularly invited to speak or teach at conferences and continuing education events nationally and internationally. She has been a Diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine since 2016.
Dr. Knafo is an obsessed equestrian and lives with her two amazing boys and many, many pets in Knoxville, TN.
